Musica<\/em> means music, which is what the project is all about. Kamenica<\/em> is derived from the first name of the city of Chemnitz: Kameniz<\/em>. This originates from the Sorbian kamjenica<\/em>, which means \u2018stony brook\u2019. The name fits perfectly because it is going to be situated along a river and refers to the history of Chemnitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our goal is for Kamenica<\/em> Musica<\/em> to make music more accessible in nature and outside of concert halls and music schools. Different stops with information boards and playable music will make the music (hi)stories of Chemnitz more accessible. Perfectly on track with the cultural capital\u2019s motto \u201cC the unseen\u201d. The pieces and songs will be developed and recorded with various musicians from Chemnitz and our partner cities in neighbouring countries such as Poland and Czechia. International relations will therefore be established and strengthened through music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The different stops including information boards will be situated right in the middle of Chemnitz. They will lead you along the cycle and walking trail along the Chemnitz in the district of Altchemnitz \u2013 close to the river and nature. We will start at the intersection of the rivers Zw\u00f6nitz and W\u00fcrschnitz, past the intervention space \u201cFlussbad Altchemnitz\u201d and the Europark<\/em> including the future international dance centre, through the Stadtpark<\/em> up to the Weltecho<\/em> and the Falkeplatz<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the spirit of scalability, we have decided to think even bigger: After the main stops have been established, more stops can be developed along the riverbank and at different places in Chemnitz. We may even expand outside of the city borders and build up similar stops in surrounding areas and partner cities!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apart from information boards including speakers, QR codes may be used to play the music at places without electricity connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the heart of the project is a small group of different people, all eager to bring something new and beautiful into being. Some have experience in music, some in other parts of culture, and some are new to it all. We always look for more dedicated people eager to help and learn.
